Case Study

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

Provide web-based enterprise architecture (EA) tools and technical support to establish and maintain a VA Enterprise Architecture Repository (VEAR) system as a managed application hosting solution.

  • Designed, captured, viewed, and collaborated on the development of the One-VA EA, a repository that stores the vital elements (artifacts) and interrelationships of the VA business areas, as well as the IT systems, plans, and elements that make the business work.
  • Provided a solution that integrated EA tools, frameworks, methodologies, models and artifacts into a consolidated framework that allowed the VA to capture and control all aspects of the EA environment, thus enabling the integration of information assets from across the Department with the VA EA.
  • Developed a web-based VEAR that supported standard modeling notations (such as IDEF, BPMN, ER, DFD, and UML), modeling tools (import/export from models), and the storage of artifacts and work products in a single place with version control and configuration management.
  • Supported the development of the repository to allow a variety of stakeholders to maintain their data efficiently and accurately ensure version control.
