Founder & Chief Operating Officer
Zia Islam is the award-winning Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Zantech, providing oversight and vision to lead the company as one of the fastest-growing IT solutions and business strategy Government Contracting firms. Under his strategic leadership, Zantech has transformed from a startup to an impressive $50M revenue organization, successfully executing more than 150 prime contracts with the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, NASA, and numerous other Federal agencies. His commitment to excellence is reflected in Zantech's comprehensive certifications including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 20000-1:2011, ISO 27001:2013, ITIL v3 2011, and CMMI-DEV v2.0 Maturity Level 3 assessment.
Founded in 2007, Zantech brings a fresh commercial perspective to Federal Government services through continuous process improvement and quality methodologies that reduce waste while improving accuracy and efficiency. Prior to establishing Zantech, Zia spent 14 years at General Motors Corporation as a Senior Project Manager, managing full life-cycle development of major products including Chevy Corvette and Cadillac Trucks, earning the prestigious GM Chairman's Honors award for best design of Cadillac CTS and the ASI Six Sigma Black Belt in Design. His earlier academic experience includes serving as a Lecturer at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals in Saudi Arabia.
Zia's educational credentials include a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from Ohio University, completed PhD coursework in Human Factors Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, and both Master's and Bachelor's degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Aligarh Muslim University, where he earned a Gold Medal. Under his leadership, Zantech has received numerous prestigious awards including Inc. 500|5000 recognition four years in a row, Future 50 Award from SmartCEO, Virginia Chamber of Commerce Fantastic 50 Award, and Top 25 Minority Business Leader Award from Washington Business Journal. A passionate problem-solver at heart, Zia believes that the same methodical approach that drives automotive innovation can transform how government technology serves our nation.
